John Williams revealed that this would be the last Star Wars film he would compose music for.
Unused footage of Carrie Fisher filmed for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was included by digitally removing the background and using visual effects to change her wardrobe and hair. These changes were also made so the footage would match Fisher’s appearance in Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Colin Trevorrow’s script for Episode 9 was titled ‘Star Wars: Duel of the Fates’ and leaked online before The Rise of Skywalker was released.
Filming took place at Pinewood Studios in London, Wadi Rum, Jordan and Los Angeles, California between August 2018 and February 2019.
The film had a budget of $275 million and grossed over $1 billion at the box office.
