Fun Facts
-
The character of Mushu was ultimately cut from the live-action remake in respect of Chinese audiences. As Mulan is largely inspired by the legend of Hua Mulan and is a popular story in the Chinese culture, Disney wanted to honour the original folk tale as opposed to solely re-creating the 1998 cartoon. This is also contributed to Disney’s decision of excluding musical numbers in the live adaptation.

This is the first Disney live-action to receive a PG-13 rating and appeal to a more mature audience than other Disney remakes.

Originally scheduled for March 2020, the film had to be delayed until July 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
