It’s no surprise that Marvel’s Phase Four has been hit by the effects of the global pandemic right now, especially when literally every film studio has delayed major blockbuster work for the foreseeable future.

The fourth phase was set to kick off this May, starting with Scarlett Johansson’s solo-film Black Widow, with The Eternals starring Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden and Gemma Chan following on in November. However, the current situation has put these releases to a halt, changing up the entire phase four schedule, pushing back each film by one slot. Ultimately, this means we won’t be seeing Spider-Man 3, Thor: Love and Thunder, and even Doctor Strange 2 anytime soon. But good news; is the films are still in line, we just have to anticipate them for longer than expected!

Here’s the new Phase Four timeline below:

  • Black Widow – November 6, 2020
  • The Eternals – February 12, 2021
  • Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – May 7, 2021
  • Untitled Spider-Man 3 – November 5, 2021
  • Thor: Love and Thunder – February 11, 2022
  • Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – March 5, 2022
  • Black Panther II – May 6, 2022
  • Untitled Captain Marvel 2 – July 8, 2022

We’re still unsure whether the sequels to Black Panther and Captain Marvel will be included in Phase Four or if they’ll begin the fifth phase of the franchise, but for now at least we can be sure they are happening!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is also expected to fit in somewhere. Whilst it’s possible the third Guardians film won’t be out until 2023, they are rumoured to be making an appearance in Thor 4 so we’ll still get to see them back in action before Vol. 3 arrives!

These are the dates that stand for now but it could change again in the future if the impacts of coronavirus continue.
