It all started when The Sun newspaper published an article, claiming Johnny Depp was a “wife beater” during his marriage to Amber Heard… The article prompted Depp to sue the newspaper for publishing false allegations and a whole court drama played out this year between the newspaper, Depp and Heard.
We all know the story so we won’t go into the itty-gritty details again but just to recap, Depp lost his case in court earlier this month and he has since resigned from his role in Fantastic Beasts at the request of Warner Bros.
One of Depp’s most recent and notable roles is or shall we say – was -, was portraying Gellert Grindelwald in the Wizarding World. He played the character in the Fantastic Beasts sequel and was set to reprise the role in the upcoming third instalment.
However, the actor announced on Instagram that’s he’s stepped down from the role, after being asked to do so by Warner Bros. in light of the court case ruling.
The distributor has been under fire since the announcement and fans have even petition for Heard to be dismissed from Aquaman 2 following the news.
Mads Mikkelsen is now said to be in talks to replace Johnny Depp but do you think it was right for Warner Bros. to ask Depp to resign?
