Hollywood Comes to Birmingham

One of Hollywood’s film legends and world’s most famous film producer, Steve Spielberg is currently in Birmingham, UK directing his new Sci-Fi Thriller, “Ready Player One”. According to sources, Spielberg and crew have been spotted on Floodgate Street, Digbeth. The upcoming film will star British actor, Simon Pegg, Mark Rylance and rising star, Tye Sheridan. “Ready Player One” is set for release sometime in 2018. #HollywoodcomestoBirmingham

Earlier this year, Colmore Rd and surrounding areas were seen as stunt set locations for the highly anticipated squeal, Kingman: The Golden Circle starring Taron Egerton, Julianne Moore and Channing Tatum. However, this is not the first time Birmingham has been the location used for filming. Back in 2015 you may have heard that an action pack thriller, zombie eating movie “She Who Brings Gifts” had started production, starring Gemma Arterton and Glenn Close. There have been no reports as to when this film will see the light of day.

Birmingham is home to “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” star, Felicity Jones, everyone’s favourite twins, James and Oliver Phelps and over protective mother, Molly Weasley played by Julie Walters from “Harry Potter”, to name a few. You’ve all heard of Black Sabbath, Duran Duran and UB40, guess what they all (more or less) have in common, that’s right, they are (if not all members) are from Birmingham!
