• Black Widow marks the beginning of Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s also the twenty-fourth film in the franchise.

• The film is set after the events of Captain America: Civil War.

• Although this is the first Black Widow solo film, this is the eighth time Scarlett Johansson has portrayed the character.

• The film had been in development since 2004, when Lionsgate had the rights to the character. However, Lionsgate dropped the project in 2006 and the rights returned to Marvel.

• It wasn’t until 2014, after Black Widow’s past was explored in Avengers: Age of Ultron that Kevin Feige considered a solo film for the character.
