Key Facts

  • Both John Krasinski and Emily Blunt were initially hesitant to join the sequel. However, after Krasinksi was convinced by producers to pitch his ideas to the studio, he was soon asked to write the script and later, go on to direct! Whilst Blunt thought they couldn’t top the first movie, it only took her husband’s first pitch of the bus scene for her to agree to be involved.

  • The film had its world premiere on March 8, 2020 in New York City but due to the global COVID-19 outbreak, the film was pushed back to September 2020.

  • The first take of the thrilling bus scene at the beginning of the film, made it to the final cut and was filmed in just one shot! John Krasinski said in an interview, “Emily’s [stunt] is so real. I think I put my marriage on the line when I put her in the car. That’s true. Like when I was explaining to her on set all the things that were going to happen and I said, ‘You’re going to hit this stunt man, that car is going to come three feet from you and then this bus is actually going to clock at 40 miles an hour,’ her face fell and she went, ‘But not really.’ And I went, ‘No, no, the bus is coming at you at 40 miles.’ That’s a real bus, and that bus hits that car and all that is totally real.”

  • The sequel was shot at multiple locations across Western New York. The crew even revisited the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail to film scenes on a bridge that was featured in the first film.

  • The sequel was first announced in April 2018; the same month A Quiet Place was released following a $50.2 million opening weekend.
