The gala event will take place at the Odeon Leicester Square and will be attended by the cast, including Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter and Meryl Streep!
Directed by Sarah Gavron and written by Abi Morgan the intense drama highlights the lives of ordinary British women who risked it all to fight for equality and the right to vote at the turn of the last century.
The film focuses on a fictional character, Maud Watts (Mulligan) a laundry worker in London who becomes involved with Suffragette activism. Early reviews, following from its Telluride Film Festival screening, have praised Mulligan’s performance. Streep, plays the cameo role of the real historical figure Emmeline Pankhurst. Anne-Marie Duff, Romola Garai, Ben Whishaw and Brendan Gleeson also star in the film.
The film will open across the UK on October 12. Rated PG and running time of 105 minutes.
The BFI London Film Festival takes place from October 7 to October 18 with ‘Steve Jobs’ concluding this year’s gala. 240 films from 17 different counties will be screened over the 12 days.
