16 Celebrities Without Oscars

1. Will Smith

Will Smith has stayed an Oscar nominee twice after being nominated for an Academy Award for his performances in Ali (2002) and The Pursuit of Happyness (2007).

2. Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. was nominated for an Academy Award for Chaplin (1993) and Tropic Thunder (2009). Being an Avenger after all hasn’t increased his chances either!

3. Johnny Depp

It’s hard to believe Johnny Depp has never won an Oscar as he’s portrayed the majority of our favourite characters! What’s even more surprising is he’s only been nominated three times! He was first nominated back in 2003 for Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, then the year after for Finding Neverland (2004) and once again in 2007 for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

4. Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt is one of the most famous actors and has still yet to win an Academy Award for himself! Despite 12 Years a Slave (2013) winning Best Picture, Brad has only been nominated for an Oscar three times in his entire career! He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for 12 Monkeys (1995) and twice in the Best Actor category for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) and Moneyball (2011).

5. Tom Cruise

One mission that has so far been impossible for Tom Cruise is winning an Academy Award! It’s a huge surprise that he’s only been nominated three times and that his last nomination was 16 years ago! He was nominated in the Best Actor category for Born on the Fourth of July (1990) and Jerry Maguire (1997) then, Best Supporting Actor for Magnolia (2000).

6. Harrison Ford

Harrison Ford has portrayed characters in some of the biggest film franchises like Star Wars and Indiana Jones, yet he has only received one Oscar nomination in his entire career! He was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role for Witness (1985) and has sadly not received another nomination since!

7. Samuel L. Jackson

Samuel L. Jackson began his acting career back in the early 70s and since has become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. He’s portrayed characters within Star Wars and Marvel’s cinematic universe but has only received one Oscar nomination which was for Pulp Fiction (1994)!

8. Amy Adams

Amy Adams has been nominated five times for an Academy Award and has still not won a single Oscar! She has been nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for Junebug (2005), Doubt (2008), The Fighter (2010) and The Master (2012) then once again for Best Actress after her performance in American Hustle (2013). She has starred in over 35 films and is definitely one to watch in the future!

 

9. Laura Linney

Laura Linney is a three time Oscar-nominee. She has been nominated for You Can Count on Me (2001), Kinsey (2005) and The Savages (2008).

10. Viola Davis

Viola Davis began her acting career in the 90s and has received just two Oscar nominations. She was nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for Doubt (2008) and again for The Help (2011), this time as Best Actress. Her performance in The Help was one that we thought was truly Oscar worthy!

11. John Travolta

John Travolta is one of Hollywood’s most famous actors and has still yet to add an Oscar to his long list of awards. In his entire career, Travolta has only been nominated twice – it’s ok. We were shocked too! He received his first nomination for Best Actor after his role in Saturday Night Fever (1977) and then once again for Pulp Fiction (1994). This means his last nomination was 21 years ago but we’re still routing for him to win one!

12. Gary Oldman

Gary Oldman began his acting career in the early 80s and has only received just one Oscar nomination which was for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2012). Despite starring in franchises like Batman and Harry Potter, Gary has still yet to win an Academy Award.

13. Bradley Cooper

Bradley Cooper has starred in The A-Team, The Hangover trilogy and Guardians of the Galaxy to name just a few of his notable works, but has never won an Oscar despite being nominated three times. He received a nomination for Silver Linings Playbook (2013), American Hustle (2014) and American Sniper (2015). We hope to see him win an Academy Award in the future!

14. Benedict Cumberbatch

Benedict Cumberbatch was nominated in the Best Actor category for his role in The Imitation Game (2015). He has starred in films alongside some of the biggest names in the industry and will portray Doctor Strange in the upcoming 2016 Marvel film.

15. Steve Carell

Steve Carell has only been nominated for one Oscar during his 20+ year acting career. He has starred in over 35 films such as; Despicable Me, Evan Almighty, Get Smart and Minions but he received his nomination after his role in Foxcatcher (2014).

16. Sigourney Weaver

Sigourney Weaver has been nominated for three Oscars. The first time was for her performance in Aliens (1986) and twice after for her performances in Gorillas in the Mist (1988) in the Best Actress category and Working Girl (1988) in the Best Supporting Actress category in the same year!
